Before you upgrade
Make sure you have
- Your ReaderPen
- A micro-USB cable
- A computer (MAC, Windows or Linux)
Check
- Current ExamReader software version and internal memory
Go to Settings/System Information/Version and check Software version.
Go to Settings/System Information/Internal Storage and check Internal memory (4GB or 8GB).
Upgrade options
Each upgrade may take 5-20 minutes to complete.

ReaderPen upgrades are incremental and it is required to walk through them all starting from the version currently installed.
Upgrade to 7.0.109
Current version MUST be 7.0.108
Download: 7.0.109 upgrade file
- Unzip the downloaded file.
- Power up ReaderPen and connect it by USB to your computer.
- Use nav-buttons and select U-Disk. Press OK button to confirm.
- Locate your unzipped upgrade file on your computer and copy updatesys_7.0.109.BIN to your ReaderPen.
- Eject ReaderPen disk from your computer and detach the USB cable.
- On ReaderPen, navigate to Settings/Software upgrade.
- Press OK button to select and use nav button to select YES and press OK button again.
Upgrade to 7.0.108
Current version MUST be 7.0.107
Download: 7.0.108 upgrade file
- Unzip the downloaded file.
- Power up ReaderPen and connect it by USB to your computer.
- Use nav-buttons and select U-Disk. Press OK button to confirm.
- Locate your unzipped upgrade file on your computer and copy updatesys_7.0.108.BIN to your ReaderPen.
- Eject ReaderPen disk from your computer and detach the USB cable.
- On ReaderPen, navigate to Settings/Software upgrade.
- Press OK button to select and use nav button to select YES and press OK button again.
Upgrade to 7.0.107
Current version MUST be 7.0.103 or 7.0.106
Download: 7.0.107 upgrade file
- Unzip the downloaded file.
- Power up ReaderPen and connect it by USB to your computer.
- Use nav-buttons and select U-Disk. Press OK button to confirm.
- Locate your unzipped upgrade file on your computer and copy sysdict.BIN and updatesys_7.0.107.BIN to your ReaderPen.
- Eject ReaderPen disk from your computer and detach the USB cable.
- On ReaderPen, navigate to Settings/Software upgrade.
- Press OK button to select and use nav button to select YES and press OK button again.
Upgrade to 7.0.103
Current version MUST be 7.0.102
Download: 7.0.103 upgrade file
- Unzip the downloaded file.
- Power up ReaderPen and connect it by USB to your computer.
- Use nav-buttons and select U-Disk. Press OK button to confirm.
- Locate your unzipped upgrade file on your computer and copy updatesys_7.0.103.BIN to your ReaderPen.
- Eject ReaderPen disk from your computer and detach the USB cable.
- On ReaderPen, navigate to Settings/Software upgrade.
- Press OK button to select and use nav button to select YES and press OK button again.
Upgrade to 7.0.102
Current version MUST be 7.0.100
This is a large upgrade and needs to be processed through three (3) iterations.
Download: 7.0.102 upgrade file
- Unzip the downloaded file.
- Power up ReaderPen and connect it by USB to your computer.
- Use nav-buttons and select U-Disk. Press OK button to confirm.
- Locate your unzipped upgrade file on your computer and copy \[..]\step1\sysdict.BIN and \[..]\step1\updatesys_7.0.102.BIN to your ReaderPen.
- Eject ReaderPen disk from your computer and detach the USB cable.
- On ReaderPen, navigate to Settings/Software upgrade.
- Press OK button to select and use nav button to select YES and press OK button again.
Repeat step 2-7 and for each iteration, replace the files in step 4 with
\[..]\step2\sysdict.BIN
\[..]\step3\sysdict.BIN
Upgrade to 7.0.100
Current version MUST be 7.0.97 or 7.0.98
Download: 7.0.100 upgrade file
- Unzip the downloaded file.
- Power up ReaderPen and connect it by USB to your computer.
- Use nav-buttons and select U-Disk. Press OK button to confirm.
- Locate your unzipped upgrade file on your computer and copy \[..]\step1\sysdict.BIN and \[..]\step1\updatesys_7.0.100.BIN to your ReaderPen.
- Eject ReaderPen disk from your computer and detach the USB cable.
- On ReaderPen, navigate to Settings/Software upgrade.
- Press OK button to select and use nav button to select YES and press OK button again.
Upgrade to 7.0.97
Current version MUST be 7.0.89
Download: 7.0.97 upgrade file
- Unzip the downloaded file.
- Power up ReaderPen and connect it by USB to your computer.
- Use nav-buttons and select U-Disk. Press OK button to confirm.
- Locate your unzipped upgrade file on your computer and copy \[..]\step1\sysdict.BIN and \[..]\step1\updatesys_7.0.97.BIN to your ReaderPen.
- Eject ReaderPen disk from your computer and detach the USB cable.
- On ReaderPen, navigate to Settings/Software upgrade.
- Press OK button to select and use nav button to select YES and press OK button again.
Upgrade to 7.0.89
Current version MUST be 7.0.76 or 7.0.86
Download: 7.0.89 upgrade file
- Unzip the downloaded file.
- Power up ReaderPen and connect it by USB to your computer.
- Use nav-buttons and select U-Disk. Press OK button to confirm.
- Locate your unzipped upgrade file on your computer and copy \[..]\step1\sysdict.BIN and \[..]\step1\updatesys_7.0.89.BIN to your ReaderPen.
- Eject ReaderPen disk from your computer and detach the USB cable.
- On ReaderPen, navigate to Settings/Software upgrade.
- Press OK button to select and use nav button to select YES and press OK button again.
Upgrade to 7.0.69
Current version MUST be 7.0.51, 7.0.52 or 7.0.63
Download: 7.0.69 upgrade file
- Unzip the downloaded file.
- Power up ReaderPen and connect it by USB to your computer.
- Use nav-buttons and select U-Disk. Press OK button to confirm.
- Locate your unzipped upgrade file on your computer and copy \[..]\step1\sysdict.BIN and \[..]\step1\updatesys_7.0.69.BIN to your ReaderPen.
- Eject ReaderPen disk from your computer and detach the USB cable.
- On ReaderPen, navigate to Settings/Software upgrade.
- Press OK button to select and use nav button to select YES and press OK button again.
